Main Gate at the United States Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, NJ

USCG Cape May - Main GateMarch 2010- West Bay Construction has successfully completed a project located at the main entrance of the United States Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May, NJ. The scope of work consisted of the demolition of an existing fence and gates and the installation of new features consisting of new masonry walls, concrete flatwork and security fence with gates. These proposed features were to be constructed in the same location as the existing features which required the demolition and reconstruction to be performed concurrently. Structural concrete foundations were constructed for two curved decorative masonry walls. The upgrades also required the construction of several hundred feet of steel fence, with black enamel finish. Modifications to the
traffic flow required concrete flatwork improvements consisting of new sidewalk, curb and gutter. An existing bus stop was maintained during the construction before being relocated to a newly constructed concrete pad. Pedestrian and vehicle traffic signs were upgraded throughout the main entrance area. The final architectural feature of this project was the installation of brass lettering and two bronze plaques on the masonry wall of the inbound side of the entrance. Final restorations included the restoration of damaged bituminous pavement surfaces and landscaping areas near the fence.
